Counselling is a talking therapy that can help one come to terms with problems and in most cases overcome them. Sometimes the way we think becomes a problem and can affect our emotions. It is part of being human that we have an awareness of ourselves, think and feel emotions. Sometimes these thoughts and emotions become a problem and to help talking therapies such as counselling are helpful. Counselling can help you understand yourself better.

In a safe supportive confidential environment one can discuss problems and feelings in order to create change or to have the freedom to explore their thoughts and feelings. I am not here to tell anyone what to do. My place is to enable you to talk and explore what may be the cause of the problem and identify your ways of thinking. Together a plan of action may be put together to help reconcile problems or find better ways of coping.

There is no exact formula as each person is a unique individual. This is a flexible therapy tailored to the needs of the individual.

It is not always possible to discuss matters with friends and families. As a professional counsellor I aim to provide the right environment and support to enable one to speak freely in a non-judgmental environment.

Counselling may help addictions, bereavement, long term illness, bullying, relationships, trauma, low self-esteem and more.

Of course, how counselling may help, depends on the person receiving the counselling. For some I have found the safe and confidential environment to talk in is all they need. Everyone is different. I am not here to tell you how to feel better but to help you uncover your own insight and understanding of your problems and explore how to resolve them. In most cases a single session will not be enough. Counselling is a journey aimed to empower you to travel through a difficult period to come out the other side feeling more positive.
